“If you get on and anyone gives you any trouble, let me know. I’ll sort it out.”
Trevor Brennan said this to me before every game for St. Mary’s College and then with Leinster too. For a young lad, just out of school and stepping up into premier men’s rugby, this was a massive confidence boost and having a top player watching over me was a gift!
Now rugby clubs, schools and college teams can be confident that Trevor and his expert team at Euro Rugby Tours will be taking care of them too as they develop their game. That is why LineoutCoach is pleased to announce his company as our exclusive key partner for rugby tours.
Euro Rugby Tours tailor each tour package to your team’s specific needs. So, if you want to take in the 6 Nations games in Ireland, the Rugby World Cup in England in 2015 or a trip to OZ then they can sort it out. A larger than life character both on and off the field, Trevor Brennan has always delivered success be it as a player or in his business life. His outgoing personality and experience of travelling during his career makes a tour company a natural fit and the testimonials from happy customers and growth in the business stands as evidence of that.
Trevor always strives to be the best in any challenge he undertakes. He represented Ireland in the 1999 Rugby World Cup, and won the inaugural Celtic League (RaboBank Direct League nowadays) with Leinster in 2001. It was around that time that Trevor made a move that would define him as a rugby player. Brennan was signed up by the formidable Stade Toulousian in France. Toulouse are one of the greatest rugby teams in the world and Trevor went on to become a star within the hallowed club, winning two Heineken Cups in 2003 and 2005, the top honor in European club rugby.
Trevor was one of the hardest working rugby players I ever met. Not born with electrifying pace, or silky smooth skills, he made himself distinguishable his way – by being a hard, no nonsense, work-for-what-get type of player. His attitude and willingness to help his teammates, made him a popular man in every squad he was in. Always the first to break into song in the changing rooms after a game, Trevor is a lot of fun to be around.
I remember on a Heineken Cup weekend, Leinster were playing against Newport in Wales. We were sitting on a coach, driving from the airport to our hotel, the day before the game. I was sitting beside Trev and we were chatting away. Brennan spoke about his desire to open up a bar with a few of the rugby lads. I could tell he was serious about this as he spoke with passion and seemed to have everything planned out.
It stuck with me. It brings me a lot of satisfaction these days to hear that Trevor’s bar, De Danu is the largest Irish bar in the centre of Toulouse and has been the venue of many a good night! It is admirable to see someone’s dreams become reality!
Little did that young lad on the bus think that one day he would again be working with the great man, this time in a joint venture to help players in emerging rugby nations such as USA and Canada grow the game, achieve their dreams and reach their rugby potential.
